Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Report - Week Ending Monday June 11, 2007

The winds of April and May have finally abated, and the summer weather pattern seems to be taking hold. Local yak anglers had a wide variety of catches inshore and offshore should be firing up.

22spotter6lbs26inchredRich Santos caught 3 upper slot reds to 27" on fly in Clapboard Creek. On another trip into Oak Harbor Santos pulled in a 22 spot red. Josh Westbrook landed a 25" trout on fly in Guana Lake. George Harms brought in 4 reds to 30" in Mill Cove.

Jake_with_red_kayak2_435Jimmy Hurff took his 7-year old nephew Jacob Marsengill for his first solo kayak fishing trip into the Guana River, and they were rewarded with several reds, trout, and a croaker. Todd Derringer and son Christian (a.k.a. the "human fish finder") worked creeks off the ICW in St. Augustine for 3 reds to 29.5" and several flounder to 19".

Frank002Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Show cohost Frank Gregg worked Mt. Pleasant Creek for a 21" flounder. Mike Kogan fished Brown's Creek and landed 4 reds to 28", 2 flounder, and a trout. On another trip into Simpson Creek Kogan led a charter that combined for 11 reds to 24", 3 trout, and 3 flounder.

Nicholas Slowik and father Don combined for 5 reds near Dutton Island. In Oak Harbor Glenn Martin landed 5 reds to 24" and Chris Vynanek caught 2 flounder. James Payton brought in 2 flounder in the ICW near Beach Blvd. Rich Slechta scord 4 reds to 23" on an evening paddle  at the little jetties.

I was just learning to fish with artificial lures, I love to find redfish, I don't know the area very well where do I look and what type of lures would I use? this is just pleasure for me can you help me to learn on my own? contact me at delenna@comcast.net please I would like to catcj my first big redfish!!!! thanks Delenna
